A taxi fare in Goa has a reputation for being a number somebody arrives at rather than a number somebody publishes. It does not have to be. Here is what is inside ours, what sits outside it, and where each of those is written down.
The short version is the line the fare table itself carries:
Base fare per vehicle, one way, inclusive of tolls and driver allowance. Night and season rates are applied at quote time.
What is in the fare, always
- The car and the driver. Every Goi Cab booking is chauffeur-driven. There is no self-drive option and no key handover — if that is what you want, it is a different product from a different company.
- Fuel and the driver’s allowance. The allowance — the driver’s day, his food, his time waiting for you — is priced in. It is not a tip you are expected to make up for at the end.
- Tolls on the route. On a transfer these are inside the number. Nothing is collected at a booth and nothing is reimbursed afterwards.
- Waiting for a tracked flight. Give us the flight number when you book and a delayed arrival costs nothing. You are buying the journey, not the hour it starts in.
- The whole car. Fares are per vehicle, not per seat. A transfer at ₹550 is ₹550 whether one of you gets in or four do.
Three products, three units
Most confusion about taxi pricing in Goa is really confusion about which of three things is being bought. They are not priced the same way because they are not the same thing.
A transfer is one journey
Airport to hotel, or hotel to airport. One published fare per route per class, fixed when you book. Distance is already in the number, so traffic, a longer way round, or a driver who has to loop back through Panjim does not change it.
A daily rental is a block of hours and kilometres
8 hours and 80 kilometres, counted from when you are collected to when you are dropped back. Go past either and you pay a rate that is printed in advance:

An overrun is metered on the odometer, read at the start of the day and again at the end; both readings end up on your booking. An extra hour costs ₹200 whichever class you take; an extra kilometre is between ₹28 and ₹45 depending on the car. There is nothing to argue about at 9pm on a beach road, which is the entire point of publishing them.
A package or an interstate run is quoted line by line
There is no rate card for these, because no two itineraries are the same. You send the plan and a person prices it — one line per day or per leg. Border permits and the driver’s night halt are lines on that quotation, bought and priced by us, not requests made to you on the road.
The things that genuinely can be added
Four of them, and all four are visible before you agree to anything.
- A night rate, between 19:00 and 06:00. Late arrivals and pre-dawn departures carry one, because somebody is driving at three in the morning. It is applied when the quote is calculated, so it is in the figure you are shown — not added to it later.
- A season rate. Peak dates, chiefly around the year end, price differently. Same rule: it is in the quote before you pay.
- Overruns on a rental day. The extra hours and kilometres above, at the published rate.
- Tolls and parking paid during a rental day. Added at cost with the receipt attached, never rounded up to a convenient number.
Any tax that applies is worked out once over the whole booking and shown as its own line on the quotation, rather than folded quietly into the fare. If it is on the quotation you can see it; that is the test we hold every figure to.
How the money is actually taken
An advance confirms the car, and the balance is due after you have been driven. The advance is a stated percentage of the fare, shown on your booking and on the payment screen before anything is charged. Card, UPI and net banking all work. Nothing is charged to a card we hold, because we do not hold one — the gateway does that part.
The number to check
The quote you are shown before you pay is the whole agreement. Night rate, season rate, tolls, allowance and tax are all inside it or itemised on it. If a figure is not on that quotation, it is not something you owe — and if anybody in a car in Goa tells you otherwise, call the number on this site rather than settling it at the kerb.
