Terms of service

What we owe you, and what you owe us.

In plain English, because you should not need help to read the terms of a taxi booking. If anything below is unclear, call and ask — we would rather explain it than rely on it.

Governed by
Indian law

01 Who you are dealing with

Goi Cab arranges chauffeur-driven road transport in Goa, India: airport transfers, daily rentals, multi-day packages and journeys out of the state. These terms apply to every booking made through this site, over the phone on +91 97666 66000, or by WhatsApp on the same number.

We are not a self-drive rental company. If you want to drive yourself, that is our sister company GoiCar, and it has its own terms.

02 What you are buying

You are buying a journey, or a block of time, with a car of a stated class and a driver.

  • A transfer is one journey between two places, at a fare fixed when you book.
  • A daily rental is 8 hours and 80 kilometres, counted from when you are collected to when you are dropped back, with published rates for anything beyond either.
  • A package or an interstate journey is whatever the written quotation says it is, line by line.

What is guaranteed is the class of vehicle, its seat and luggage capacity, and a licensed driver. A specific registration number, model or colour is not guaranteed, and neither is a specific driver unless we have agreed one with you in writing.

03 Who supplies the car and driver

This matters, so it is said plainly. Goi Cab contracts the journey with you. The car and the driver are supplied by a local licensed operator, who we contract separately. Goa's taxi trade is run by owner-operators who know their own roads, and we would rather work with them than pretend to a fleet we do not own.

What that means in practice:

  • Your agreement is with us. If the car does not arrive, if it is the wrong class, or if anything else goes wrong, we are who you call — not the operator, and not the driver.
  • We are responsible for delivering the journey you booked at the price you agreed. If the operator we placed it with cannot do it, finding another car is our problem.
  • The operator is responsible for the vehicle being roadworthy, taxed, insured and permitted, and for the driver holding a valid commercial licence. We require all of that of every operator we place work with, and we check it.
  • The driver is the operator's, not yours and not ours. Instructions about the route are fine; the driver decides what is safe and legal.

04 Fares, and what is inside them

Published transfer fares and the daily rental rate card are per vehicle, not per passenger, and are one way unless stated. They include fuel, the driver, the driver's allowance, and tolls on the route.

Some things change the fare, and all of them are applied when your quote is calculated rather than added to it afterwards:

  • A night rate, for services between 19:00 and 06:00.
  • A season rate on peak dates, chiefly around the year end.
  • Any tax that applies, shown as its own line on the quotation.

On a daily rental, extra hours and extra kilometres are charged at the rates published on the daily rental page, measured on the odometer, which is read at the start of the day and again at the end. Tolls and parking paid during a rental day are added at cost with the receipt attached.

The quote you are shown before you pay is the agreement. If a figure is not in it or itemised on it, it is not something you owe.

05 Quoted work: packages and interstate

Multi-day packages and journeys out of Goa are priced by a person, as a written quotation with one line per day or per leg. Border permits and the driver's night halt are lines on that quotation, bought and priced by us.

A quotation holds for the period stated on it. If you change the itinerary — more days, a different route, a different class of car — it is repriced, and we tell you the new figure before anything is charged.

06 Payment

An advance confirms the car. It is a percentage of the fare, and the exact amount is shown on your booking and on the payment screen before anything is charged. The balance is due once the journey has been made — to the driver, or by a payment link we send you.

Card, UPI and net banking all work. Payments are handled by a payment gateway; we never see or store your card number. Until the advance has been received, a booking is a request rather than a confirmed car.

If a balance is left unpaid after a journey we will ask you for it, more than once, in writing. We do not add interest or fees to it.

07 Waiting time and no-shows

Airport pickups: give us the flight number when you book and the driver tracks the flight. Waiting caused by a late flight is included and costs you nothing.

Other pickups: the driver waits at the agreed place and time. If you are going to be significantly late, call us — a booking we know about is a booking we can hold. A long wait we were not told about may be charged at the extra-hour rate for your class.

If you do not appear and cannot be reached on the number the booking was made on, the driver will eventually leave, and the booking is treated as a cancellation at the time of the service.

08 Passengers and luggage

Every class publishes both a seat count and a bag count, and you must not exceed either. This is a safety and insurance matter, not a preference: a driver can refuse to carry more people than the vehicle is registered for, and should.

If your luggage genuinely does not fit the class you booked, the driver will call us and we will find you a larger car where we can. You pay the published difference between the two classes, and nothing more.

09 Changes and cancellation

Changes. Call or WhatsApp +91 97666 66000 with your booking reference. A change is not a cancellation: where the operator can move the car, we move the booking and your fare stands. A change that alters the journey itself — a different route, a longer day, a bigger car — is repriced, and we tell you the new figure first.

Cancellation by you. You can cancel from your booking page or by calling us. A cancellation fee applies, and it is a percentage of the fare that depends on how long before the service you cancel: cancel well ahead and it is a small share, and that share rises the closer you get to the pickup, up to the whole fare very close to it.

The bands are set by our office and can change; the one that applies to your booking is the band in force when you cancel, matched against your pickup time. The fee, and what comes back to you, are calculated and stated to you as part of the cancellation and are recorded on your booking. If you want the figure before you decide, call or WhatsApp us with your reference and we will tell you what your booking stands at.

Refunds go back to the method you paid with, through the same gateway.

Cancellation by us. If we cannot supply the car we agreed, we find you another one. In the rare case that we genuinely cannot — a road closed, a strike, weather that makes the journey unsafe — you owe nothing and everything you have paid is returned in full. We do not charge you a cancellation fee for our own inability to perform.

10 What we need from you

  • Accurate details. A correct phone number above all, because that is how the driver reaches you and how your booking is identified. A wrong flight number or hotel is the single most common cause of a pickup going wrong.
  • Be at the pickup point at the agreed time, or tell us you will not be.
  • Nothing illegal, dangerous or prohibited in the car. A driver may end a journey if what is happening in the vehicle is unsafe or unlawful, and in that case the fare is not refunded.
  • Reasonable care of the vehicle. Damage or soiling beyond ordinary use may be charged at documented cost, with photographs and a repair or cleaning bill. Not as a round number decided at the kerb.

11 Responsibility and liability

We are responsible for delivering the journey you booked, at the price agreed, with a licensed driver in a vehicle of the class booked. Every vehicle carries the insurance the law requires.

We are not responsible for things genuinely outside our control: traffic, weather, road closures, accidents ahead of you, strikes, or an act of the authorities. Because of that, please leave a sensible margin before a flight or a train. We will always tell you what we think a journey needs if you ask, but a departure time is your decision.

Except where the law does not allow it to be limited — which includes death or personal injury caused by negligence, and any liability arising from fraud — our liability for any one booking is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as a missed flight, a forfeited hotel night or a lost day of a holiday.

Nothing in these terms takes away a right you have under Indian consumer law.

12 Lost property

Tell us as soon as you notice, with the booking reference. We will contact the operator and the driver, and if it is found we will arrange to get it back to you — you pay the cost of that journey. We cannot promise anything left in a vehicle will be found, so check the seat and the boot before you close the door.

13 Complaints

Call +91 97666 66000 if it is happening now, or write to bookings@goi.cab if it is not. Tell us the booking reference and what happened. We will look at what the booking record actually shows — the times, the assignment, the payments — and come back to you with an answer rather than an apology.

14 Governing law

These terms, and any booking made under them, are governed by the laws of India. The courts of Goa have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

15 Changes to these terms

We update this page when the way we work changes. The terms that apply to your booking are the ones in force on the day you made it, not the ones on this page later. This version was published on 2026-08-29.

How we handle your personal information is a separate document: the privacy notice.
